The European regulation N°1907/2006 « REACH » (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals) came into force on 1st June 2007. As objective the regulation is looking for the use of the chemical substances in the European Union.

UMS is well aware of the tremendous challenge the compliance to the regulation implies for the Supply Chain as REACH applies to all substances on their own or contained in preparations or articles.

The pre-registration period, which represents the first phase of the regulation implementation started on 1st June 2008 and will end on 30th November 2008 in consequence of which we asked our suppliers concerning their REACH situation.

UMS expects to give a clear status of the substances included in their products and their pre-registration if required before 1st January 2009.
